I like it, love the color, of course, but doesn't look like to much thought was put into it.  Not like I really care, just happy as hell to hockey back in town!

And hi to everyone, it's been a while since I've been on the board, but had to come by and see what was going on!  So Pierce, ready to add another fan site?  Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks and hi 210, somethings will never change, lol!

They fixed it, I sent them a "reminder" in the Q&A on the new site.  I'm sure they don't really want to start off on the wrong foot, and ya all know how the locals go a bit loco over that!

Just wondering, if anyone wants to share, did you pledge?  I'm looking at this 2-3 year commitment and not feeling to cozy about that.  Although I have heard, forgot where, that the Sharks signed a 10 year contract with the DCU.  After the Blues pulling the Cats out and the lack of support from the DCU Center and the city I just don't feel good about that long of a commitment.  A year, yes I would.  Just wondering, and thinking maybe I should have started a new thread.

just wanted to drop by and say that i'm happy for everyone who worked hard to get a team back and finally did. we kinda know what that's like having done the same thing with the Browns. just to respond to jojobeans72's comment: at least you've got a 10-year commitment from the Sharks... the whole thing fell apart in Cleveland when Gund sold the Sharks and the Barons were dealing with a new landlord. hopefully you won't have that problem.

Yes, they did sign a 10-year deal with the DCU. It was seen in this morning's Cleveland article on the move, which was linked in another topic somewhere.

Personally, I feel good about the long deal because it means that they will be here for that long. They would have to pay a big fee to the DCU if they wanted out of the deal. But, I can't see anything like that happening. The DCU Center, as we know, restructured its lease and offered a better contract than the one they had with the Blues. I think they're here to stay for a while....we just need to fill the stands.

A 10 Year Deal is Unbelievable... What a Great Announcement and Long Term Commitment by the Sharks Orginazation to Worcester and the Fans.

Its time to show our appreciation and bring back AHL Hockey this year to the new DCU Shark Tank and hopefully sign up a record number of season ticket holders to support the new team.

Hat's off and thank's to everyone at Save Our Hockey for signing up all the 1500 pledges for new season ticket holders which really made a difference in why San Jose selected Worcester for there AHL Team, as the group really made the difference in why we have a new hockey team in Central Mass and didn't get enough credit for all there efforts.

Opening night needs to be a sellout too...Let's show are support for the Worcester Sharks and help them become succesful all season long.

Can't wait to see Worcester vs. Peoria

I just went back and read the entire article and I see that they are "curtaining off" the top of the rink.  There will only be seating for 6400, not 14000+ for the games.  I don't think it'll be that hard to fill up anymore.  We're not going to see the 2-3k that the Cats were pulling in, people got sick of a lot of things towards the end.  Now everyone misses hockey and will be back, at least at first.  Even if they only get a few thousand in, it'll "look" fuller.  Before the announcement or even the rumors there were 1500 pledges made, now the drive is continued until the end of the month.  I'll put money on the fact that they will get real close to the 3k pledge mark by then.  Close to half the arena will be sold, whether they show up or not.

Im so glad that this has happend. I have been following this every since it was announced the IceCats were moving. Though I am a Providence Fan, i enjoyed worcester, the environment, and the fans. I always hoped the city would get a team back and thank god its happend. Although im sad to see the IceCats name go, this should be a new and exciting chapter in the city's sports history. I would also like to see scratch and pounce still remain mascots somehow.....i mean, they were cool. Look foward to the rivalry continuing and seeing how much better the DCU center looks compared to the Dumpy Donuts Center.

Well, I am happy as a clam!!   Will the "Litter Box" now be known as the "Chum Bucket"??   Good to see hockey back in Worcester where it belongs.   JP :)

I haven't posted here since last year, but I would like to say congratulations to all the hockey fans in Worcester on the return of the AHL in 06-07.  For Speed and 210 and of all of the others who helped out, you guys put a lot of your own effort in to make yesterday a reality, and it is great to see you be rewarded for it with a new team.  With a ten year lease signed by the Sharks, hopefully this means Worcester will be in the AHL for a long time to come.  I wish you guys the best of luck in the future, and I am looking forward to making roadtrips back up to the DCU Center for Sharks games next season.

glad to see it back in Worcester,,, the DCU managment really messed up this year,, they had the chance to have P-Bruins play there for this year because of restoring the Providence CIvic Center and they refused it??? What was the managment thinking of?  P-Bruins - there following and the Worcester fans!  it would have the best year ever both for the fans and for the DCU Center.....   The managment really goofed on that deal......Glad they at least didnt mess this deal up. YET!

The renovation of the Providence Civic Center/Dunkin Donuts center has not started yet. The project has not even gone out for bids yet. Stories on the Internet about the Providence Bruins moving to Worcester (temporarily or otherwise) were rumors spread by the same kind of people who post messages in the Internet that say things like "Your car will explode if you talk on a cell phone while pumping gas".

Why would we want to pass on getting "A Team" back here, just to have the another team rent 1 year of space?  Then if no available teams next year, then we are back to square one.  Anyhow I'm very happy with the results.

btw- what is this "following" you speak of with the P-Bruins? Their listed attendance is joke with the rest of the New England teams.

Hey former IceCat fans! I am a new inbred prodigy out of the new Sharks organization and I am happy to hear that a majority of the comments posted are positive with our arrival to Worcester. I will be representing the Sharks as an account executive and I HIGHLY look forward to fulfilling all of your requests you guys come first please, please if you have any ideas on how we as a new organization to this area can accompany you better. I was born and raised in Massachusetts and I think I am just as excited to introduce and launch a whole new minor league hockey team  to the area.

Now that the contract is signed and they are commited, why would anyone pledge ticket money in advance of purchasing a season ticket. If there are only 1500 tickets pledged so far it would seem that you will be able to sit in any area you want anyway. 1500 pledges will probably only result in 1200 tickets sold. I am sure a lot of people were willing to pay a 25 or 50 dollar fee to be sure hockey would return and really cant afford a season ticket.

It will be great to see hockey back in Worcester and the Sharks seem to be an energetic organization so I think they will be able to make things work. I just hope they can clean up the DCU center and keep it clean. They (the DCU) also need to be a lot more fan friendly. They treat the patrons like dirt, this has been an on going problem for ever. Unless the DC managements attitude changes the attendance will contine to be low. No one wants to take their family out for a night of hockey and be hastled and treated like the DCU treats people. The only time they clean the place is when the NCAA comes to town. We used to drive in from Leominster all the time but for the past few seasons we have gone to Lowell. It is a clean and fan friendly arena to visit.

I believe the city needs to get more involved in the operations of the DCU, it is definatly time for a management change there, It is in an Ideal location and could be a lot more successfull with a decent management team.
