Pledge Drive Struggles

From: Wildcats11   Wildcats11 is a registered live IceCat

I saw the numbers for the season ticket drive in this Sunday's Telegram and it doesn't look promising. Only over 800 total, and just up 100 pledges from the previous week. I'm getting nervous about this......where are all those people that had season tickets at the IceCats peak years?? Do we need more advertising?? Like billboards and maybe even small TV ads.....what will it take to get even around 2,500 pledges?

considering there has been almost zero advertising, and with the short week and people's minds on Thanksgiving, 850 isn't bad. The first radio ads started this AM. TV is coming this week. Just like any other telethon, people unfortunately wait till the last minute. People (especially Worcester) have the habit of jumping on a bandwagon last minute. The word has to get out (which it should be this week (and by all of us!), and people have to realize that the finger is pointing directly at them to do something, not to wait for others.

If they're gonna advertise it on TV, what channels will they have it on? I'm hoping they'll be on stations with good ratings so the message gets to more people.

Hiya Snag, I think it's all going to go through Charter cable. They should be on a lot of of different cable channels - sometimes you'll see a local commercial on say - USA, and when it's over you see the last second of a commercial shown nationally. So I think all the cable stations will be playing (NECN, NESN, USA, SPIKE, CNN, FOX, etc)

Okay. It should work just fine, as long as they're spreading the message. I Hope that the commercial airs soon (and that it's not as creepy as the commercial for, was it Bob's Furniture, where the furniture sings?).

Well it's creepy. (You'll see why LOL)

"Creepy" is a good word...

Don't listen to Speed or 210 (jk) ---- in the words of another well known commercial ----

"IT'S FANTASTIC!!!!!!"

I worked the day shifts on the phones for the pledge drive.  Unfortunately, I came up empty in gaining any immediate pledges, but lots of others did very well.  At last count, by Wednesday afternoon's shift was done there was an additonal 200 pledges.  This did not include anyone who pledged online - only phone pledges.

This is great, but we still need everyone's effort to get the word out and convince others to pledge!  And don't forget if they are only interested in partial plans to send 'em over to saveourhockey.com.

200 additional pledges?!  How many pledges do we have altogether so far?

Are you saying 200 on Wednesday alone? If so, that's great. The total for Tuesday- day and evening was 98.

So at the very minimum 850 from Sundays paper + 300 = at least 1150.  1/3 way there.

I believe that the number for weds is a little high. We had 23 in the second session and i believe only 37 in the first, so that would total 60 for weds. With 98 and 60 that only gave us 158 for the phones.

Tuesday's total was 125, and by thetime I left on Wednesday there was 40 pledges, and the actual shift was not over.

I'd say 200 total for the pledge drive phone-a-thon.  There were no counts available if anyone responded via the internet.
