My pledge went through just fine.  However, it does take 24-48 hours for confirmation.

How about a counter like the telethons.   Every week they can tell us what the count is at :)... Seriously, I'd love to know in a month how they are doing.

Does the confirmation have a number on it as to where you are in line?  I just put in pledge for 3 seats.

I tried to place my pledge four four tickets, but got the Missing Error, can't Woosta do anything right? Even the signup didn't work at first, but I finally went through tonight 11-3-05.

Mabey there is some hope for Woosta!!! Ya Right we need the counter online and more press coverage... Hello Worcester Telegram & Gazzette and Worcester Magazine, we need big articles and coverage every week for updates and progress expesially the anticipated season ticketr holder count to date.

Lets make a goal to surpass the highest ever year number of season ticket holders whatever that was (does anyone know for a year?) and sign upmore season ticket holders ever before December 31,2005 this year.

Go Cats !!!

Although I agree this sounds great, one think I haven't been able to determine reading it in 3 places...does 3,000 pledges guarantee a team...or is that just a goal?

It's just a goal...

I think the highest total of season ticket holders was around 2500. While there is no guarantee that we will get a team with 3000 pledge, all in attendance - including and especially Dave Andrews agree that there wont be too much of a problem putting a team here with a season ticket base of 3000. FYI - read the FAQs on the plegde page of the website - it should answer questions (they put it there Thursday afternoon).

Did I hear correctly at the meeting that there would be 33 weekend  home games ?

From: 210   210 is a registered live IceCat
Date: 04-Nov-05
They did say that Pierce...not sure how they could be certain of that though.

From: 118A
Date: 05-Nov-05

The AHL sets the dates for the teams, but the facility requests them before the AHL issues them to the Team I believe.

33 Weekend dates would be great

An incoming team and the DCU would decide what dates are available, be it through negotiation or whatever other process they decide to use to determine those dates. That list is then given to the AHL, and a schedule is then drafted using those dates. The draft is then released to teams for any final tweaking, and once it's finalized it's released to the public.

The list of available dates is usually due in early February I believe...

I was only a season ticket holder for 2 years before the IceCats left and my family enjoyed every game immensely, especially the kids. After getting the DCU season ticket holder pledge letter today and seeing that they are asking for $600.00 per person, with no mention that kids ticket will be cheaper, is a little much for me to swallow. Especially after looking at Portland's price on the Quarter Deck (Where I like to sit) being only $340.00 per person, Providence at $400.00 per person, and Manchester at $440.00 per person with kids ticket all being much cheaper. As much as I miss having hockey in Worcester, I'm going to need a little more info/commitment from the DCU before I pledge for 2-years, (4) tickets (2 adults/2kids) like: 1-Will kids tickets be cheaper and how much. 2-Will you be able to use unused tickets for other games similar to what they did during the 2004-2005 season. 3-What guarantee do we have as to how long the team will stay. To me this is a two way street and season tickets come with percs. I'm not going to blindly give a binding pledge until I know what I'm paying for besides just a hockey game. And just another quick note. If season ticket are going to be around $600.00 (which is supposed to be a reduced price) can you imagine what the price of a standard ticket is going to be for the average person to buy off the street for a casual game. Not the same low price they have been used to getting in the past.

SMR - I think you need to address your concerns to Sandy Dunn and the city. I think they might be able to give you more assurance than what you are looking for here. If season tickets are $15 per game, then I'd say standard tickets will be $18-19. That still isn't bad. Also if anyone has concern over prices - you need to address them not only here, but to the people organizing this drive. It's in ALL of our hands to make this work, so dialogue is good.

Speed - Thanks for the contact (Sandy Dunn). I will try to contact both her and the city to see what addtional info I can find out and post it here. The reason I replied to this thread was to see if others had the same concerns I have. I know there are going to be die-hard fans that will pay just about anything to see a team back in Worcester but I paid $1,600 for season tickets last year and at a possible max of $2,400, this is going to be a large increase and I'd like to know what I'm getting for my money before I make a 2-year commitment. Thanks again for your feedback.

SMR.  My two cents.  Good and valid points.  I struggled with many of the same questions as my season ticket buddy is my son.  Have done very nicely in the past with the flex pack, coupons etc to get to 20-25 home and stll travel and see another 10 or so on the road at reasonable prices.

Ultimately getting the team here is of first priority and I have made the commitment.  It is not the same going to Lowell to see good hockey but were I really dont have any rooting interest.

Hopefully those questions will satisfactorly and fairly resolved.  While reasonable, I do agree think that a price point of $18-19 per game will be tough to sustain 5K per night regardless of the new seating capacity.

Your concern is not uncommon based on some of my conversations with friends and co workers. You may want to read the first listing on the FAQ page. The $600 is an estimate by the city based on league average, but they have said there will be a package less than $600. Less than 600 could be $595, but it could also be in the low $400's.

I'm sure seats on the glass and center ice will be higher than we are used to, but keep in mind that we were spoiled with some of the best ticket prices in the league. Premium tickets might be $600 or more, but that's still better than places like Hartford and Bridgeport where you can pay over $1,000. Last season the other two AHL arenas in New England with seating capacities over 10,000 (Hartford, Prov) charged well over $20 to sit at center ice, we charged $16.

Again, we're simply coming into line with the league average. Our premium seats will probably be much more than we're used to, but I'm sure you'll be able to find the less expensive packages also. We may know more on Thursday.

I think you hit the nail on the head on two areas, dmband:

I've hit a few AHL games so far this year, and as you said, it's not the same and there is no rooting interest. I like hockey but the spark just isn't there.

Upping from flex or half season is what we really need. Way to go!  It might seem pointless to say here, but I've had so many people tell me they'd wait and get flex tickets. It it absolutely imperative that you convey to people that that is not an option. Flex packs and half seasons are not for sale and wont be if we don't get the full seasons. We know this, but I don't think the masses are grasping that concept. Make sure you convey this in your conversations.

SMR - We need you, so if you have any trouble reaching anyone, and are still looking for answers, please shoot me an email and I'll do my best. I think you have valid concerns, and aren't alone in them. But I also think that anyone who has concerns other than this should bring them up as well. This is for all of us and all your opinions counts!

Hopefully the DCU Center recongnizes we are trying to bring hockey back to Worcester, and keeps the ticket prices as low as possible in effort to rebuild hockey in the City.

The DCU won't be setting the ticket prices, it will be the team that does that.

All parties involved- They City, DCU Center and SMG are more than committed and they are trying VERY hard. Sandy Dunn outlined all steps taken to date last night and all I can say is wow. That group did their homework. According to the AHL, we now have one of the most workable leases in the AHL.

We do not know what ticket prices will be. We can hope they will remain low, but I'd bet on closer to the $600 mark mentioned. It's all based on league average which is just over $650 for a lower bowl season ticket.

They (DCU, City, SMG) did their part- It's all on our shoulders.

118A aka 128A - "Hopefully the DCU Center recongnizes we are trying to bring hockey back to Worcester, and keeps the ticket prices as low as possible in effort to rebuild hockey in the City." Where have you been? The DCU Center and the city have really put a lot of hard work and effort (and dollars) into getting another team in here. Actually, I'm shocked at how much they've done. They basically went to the AHL and other AHL governors and asked "what do we need to do?", and also said "if we do this - will they come?". One thing Sandy said last night - while not getting into details was that they looked long and hard at the rent and what they need to do. They went back to the AHL with their proposed rent/lease price/structure, and were told that it was better than most AHL venues. They've done their part, now it's time for us to do us. Negativity doesn't help - not does not knowing what you're talking about.
