Hello from Peoria

From: riverman

Hello folks,

First off I know it's tough losing a team and I truly feel bad for you all from a fans point of view. We definatly mourned the loss of our 2004 Rivermen. Tonight was the home opener and Im pleased to report a victory infront of a crowd of just under 8000. As a season ticket holder Im pleased to see the better brand of hockey thats been brought here. Ive been a lifelong Blues fan so it's exciting for everyone here. However in the back of our minds were the people who cared about this team before us. Just as we wondered how our boys were doing elsewhere. So I just thought I would come by and tell you all we will keep you guys in mind and take care of the boys.

Hope a new team comes your way soon. Take care.

Thanks for the words, Riverman. Many people here will be following the team; some closely, some casually, and some with animosity. I hope I represent the majority when I say I donít harbor ill feelings toward Peoria- who wouldnít want to move up a league. The Blues, on the other hand, are another story.

At the risk of sounding unappreciative of you posting, Iíll be following the team casually at best because 1- it still stings, 2- the boys are just another team now, and 3- Iíd rather focus on the future and getting something new.

Also hoping not to sound unappreciative, believe me, you donít know how it feels.  You lost a group of players who were replaced. Everyoneís lost a favorite player or two to trade, injury, retirement etc, but someone takes their place. From one fan to another, loosing a team all together is much worse, and something I hope you donít have to experience.

Thanks for the update, and have a post game cold one for me.

Riverman, do the tickets to AHL Rivermen games cost more than the ECHL Rivermen tickets did last year? Just wondering. I appreciate the kind words in your post, although to be honest I don't have a whole lot of interest in the team anymore

Mike:

Im sorry you've lost interest bro, hope you get another one in there soon.

And to answer your question, the AHL Riverman tickets from the box office the price is 17.50 for lower bowl, and 12.50 for the upper bowl. Last year they were two dollars cheaper in each section. However, season ticket holders were able to get each ticket at the previous 15.50 price for lower bowl. Hope this answers your question.. take care.

$2 seems like a pretty reasonable price increase. I haven't lost interest in hockey; it's just that it is a lot easier for me to get to Providence and Hartford than it is to go to Peoria. Do you guys still have indoor football?

Hey Riverman - ditto on what TJO said. I have to say that through all of this, Peoria fans have been very gracious and haven't tried to run it in at all to Worcester fans. Total class, and it's appreciated. About 10 years ago you guys were in the same situation, so I guess you know where we're coming from now. I'd say it's like getting a divorce and having to be reminded of what once was - it stings and you want to forget. Not all, but quite a few feel that way. The players that we watched over the years - we have nothing against. The fans of Peoria, truly class acts. Blues management? Lets just say don't put them in the same room as us IceCats fans - especially Karasiuk and Pleau.

Again, thank the fans of Peoria for being classy. It does take the sting out some.

Mike:

Yes, we still do have a indoor football team. They are the Peoria Rough Riders of the United Indoor Football league. I've never been to a game, so I dont know a whole lot about them. However, their website is www.peoriaroughriders.com I heard its a pretty cool thing to watch, my friend was into them back when they were the pirates in the af2 league. Hope this answers your question.
