Spoke briefly to Dave Andrews after the game last night in  Providence...."Slim" (and I think he being optimistic) chance of AHL hockey in Worcester next year.  He indicated that he thought most of the focus was on getting the team for the following year.  He seemed appreciative of the loyal following in Worcester and seemed to indicate that new blood here would be good.

Due to the recent loss of my IceCats, i having been keeping up with the Providence Bruins. The baby B's ,have just advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals! Good Luck Providence! Although I love the Cats, i dont like the Blues. I do however want to thank them for 11 years of outstanding support. You meant a lot to this city. We miss hockey already. With the crushing loss of the NHL due to the lockout, i attended at elast 15 IceCats games this season. I met my hero Ray Bourque on April 9th against Portland and got his autograph. On Friday May 13th, 2005, my high school senior class had our prom at the DCU Center Ballroom. walking into that building brought tears to my eyes. It wasnt the fact that my high school fun with friends was over but the fact that no more Worcester IceCats games would be played. I will never forget the fun i had with my friends while sitting in section 238 row 10 seats 5-10. Thank you St. Louis, for the support you gave to OUR CATS! U deserve respect when its needed...and its Needed! Hopefully my bruins and redwings will return to action next fall. as i leave for the Navy this July, i am leaving with the hope that a new hockey team will inhabit the city of worcester. Hearing Miek Thornton and Richie B was something special....Thank you for your support St. Louis, and good luck to the new franchise....Peoria Rivermen! U hold a special place in the heahts of New Englanders and hockey fans alike!

It won't let me login on my username, I don't know if it's just me or if something is wrong with the system.... Anyways, I went to the Providence game last night and it was great and intense. The game was chippy, and there was an altercation during the warmups, it was awesome. But, the Dunkin Donuts Center is a dump. I've never been there prior to last night, but that place is horrible. I was sticking to the floor, the seats were dirty with black stains all over them, and the sound system sounded like an alarm clock. I can't believe that the Dumpin Donuts Center is going to have a team next year and a fine place like the DCU Center won't. That place needs some serious renovation work.

Thanks Pierce, I reregistered my username as "IceCats9405", so hopefully it will work. I also sent an "inquiry" under the Contact Us option to let you know about the problem I had. Once again, thank you.

The Dunkin Donuts Center has gotten a bit run down over the years. However, I attended several games at the New Haven Coliseum and Boston Garden in years past, and compared to those two arenas "The Dunk" looks fantastic. :-)

Who do you think has the best arena ?

I've heard a lot of Manchester being the nicest arena. I've been there and it's awesome.

Well, like i said before...im really gonna miss the cats. However, im replying to the remark about the dunkin donuts center being a dump. I cannot agree with you more. That place is in fact disgusting. Ive gone to every prov game there for the last 6 years. Nothing has changed there. It Rhode Island. They say theyre gonna do something, and they dont. Theres been so many rumors about renovations, but they'll never happen. We'll still have that ugly scoreboard and barely see-through glass for years to come. The DCU center was a nice place to watch hockey. they improved a lot in the last couple years, and its sad to see the cats go. You fans were and are still great. I hope another team gets there. In the meantime, come down to prov and witness some playoofs action in the ghetto dump.

I loved Harbour Station in St. Johns, Newfoundland. About 6,000 comfortable seats, great food, fantastic fans. I miss the old A.H.L. That old mixture of New England, upstate New York and Atlantic Canada was a real hockey league for real hockey fans. You know, if we don't get the AHL back how about the QMJHL? Quebec, Halifax, Maine, PEI, Cape Breton, Moncton and next year Fredricton and St.Johns. I'd rather see the juniors than the ECHL or UHL. Anyone with me?

In New England I would say Verizon Wireless Arena is the nice place I have been too but overall I would have to say that the MTS Centre in Winnipeg is a great place to watch a game. They could very well get an NHL team in the future if the NHL sorts out there problems.

Of the 9 AHL arenas that I have visited (past and present) Bridgeport is probably my favorite. The Hartford Civic Center should be really nice once the renovations are complete, although it is a little too big for a minor league team. NHL in Winnipeg? I'm sure the fan support would be there, but I doubt if the NHL will return to smaller cities like Winnipeg, unfortunately.

Turkued, isn't the Harbour Station in St. JOHN, New Brunswick?

Bridgeport is a nice arena. The only thing I don't like about it is the outside box office and no lobby to stand in before the game. Kind of sucks when it really cold, snowing, etc. The video boards are kind of small for replays but overall, it's a great arena.

A good worst to first will be Springfield when it's finally done. That place was such a dump a few years ago, but the renovations are looking good. Next year it will be done and will be a great place.

I can actually see the NHL going back to Winnipeg if the economics get straightened out. You can have a full 15,000 seat arena in a small Canadian market, or a 2/3 full 19,000 seater in North Carolina....

I have gone to the dunkin Donuts Center a couple of times... The place needs a serious case of renovation! Hell..a new arena would be nice too..Providence College has also complained about poor seating and how much the arena needs to be renovated. My BU terriers have recently built a 6000 seat Aganis center which sells out. Why would Providence not want a new arena? How old is the Dunkin Donuts Center?..It doesnt matter! Cuz my 1st, choice hockey team is on their way to the American hockey League Eastern Conference Finals! Lets go Providence! Toivenen its ur time! Also...anybody heard about the possibilites that wista (worcester) would get the Utah Grizzzlies for cheaper money because of their poor team and the possibilty of going ECHL to become the AA affiliate of my Boston bruins???? Hopefully worcestdr can get a team so i can cheer for them while im in the military......i will be in groton..for submarine traiing and only an hour from hartford! I shall wear my bruins and red wings apparrel and gladely make fun of the wolfpack! Maybe wearing an icecats or P-Bruins jersey will tick them off!

Yes, the outdoor box office at Arena at Harbor Yard isn't too much fun in the winter. Junior hockey in Worcester? It may be good hockey, but I doubt that many fans would go to the games, and the rent at the DCU Center is probably too expensive for a junior team.

I also agree that Harbour Station at St.John, New Brunswick is our favorite arena.  We have been to 21 out of the 40 arenas (past & present including the Savvis Ctr) that the IceCats have played in.  Harbour Station is very clean throughout the entire arena, including the restrooms, & the people there are very friendly.  We stayed at the Delta Brunswick Hotel and enjoyed the indoor walk from the hotel to the arena. We have been to Harbour Station on 3 different trips, including one time when we saw Wilkes Barre play two games in the Calder Cup final series!  Even though the ride is long, it is a beautiful ride going over the "skyline".

My second favorite arena would be Lowell --- again for the same reasons -- the arena is very clean throughout & the people are very friendly.

One of our favorite cities is SanAntonio where the people have shown us a lot of hospitality when we have been there the past two years.  We will certainly miss going to IceCats games there!

Last summer we traveled to Cincinnati to see the Cincinnati Gardens arena.  The young woman who was the PR ass't. opened the team shop for us at 4:45 pm on a Friday afternon so we could buy some souvenirs.  She even gave my son a small gift from the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks because we had made the trip there --- that meant a lot to both of us.

No matter where we have been, we have met many wonderful people and have had a great opportunity to see and explore many great cities.

No matter what city we have traveled to, everyone we have met has been very friendly.

The Dunkin Donuts Center opened in 1972. Providence College desperately wants the city to renovate the arena and add premium seating that they can charge large amounts of money for at their basketball games, but the sad fact of the matter is that the arena loses money; spending money to renovate an arena that has little chance of ever turning a profit in the future does not make much sense economically.
