Colorado Eagles moving up to AHL

The announcement that the Colorado Avalanche would cut all ties with its American Hockey League affiliate Hershey Bears at the end of the AHL season was of considerable interest to Northern Colorado hockey fans. The announcement quickly had area hockey fans wondering if some kind of affiliation with the Central Hockey League's Colorado Eagles
could be in the works. If that happened, the team could join the AHL.The Eagles already have an unofficial relationship with the Avalanche since two Av prospects, goalie Tyler Weiman and forward David Savgrovsky, are on the Eagles roster. Avalanche officials have seen about three-quarters of the Eagles games this season.
The Eagles have sold out every game at the 5,289-seat Budweiser Events Center during their first two years, winning the CHL's regular season championship and now preparing for a playoff run that begins next Friday.
The CHL, however, is considered a notch below the AHL when it comes to the quality of players. An AHL affiliation in Loveland would mean many of the Avalanche's top prospects would be on display a 40-minute drive from Denver.
With Hershey, call-ups mean a flight to Denver from Harrisburg, Pa., the nearest airport from Hershey.

The Eagles can't join the AHL unless someone buys a team and moves it there. The AHL is currently at it's  maximum number of teams.

CCC, where are you even getting this info from?

A similar arcticle was reported in The Sunday Republican (Springfield, MA) two weeks ago.

This article was published in a Colorado newspaper last month. It is currently being posted on various Internet message boards. The title is rather misleading, in my opinion.

All you need to know about the person that wrote the article is this line..."The CHL, however, is considered a notch below the AHL when it comes to the quality of players". I guess he never heard of the ECHL.

CCC- My on the ground source in Colorado says that the "Lanche will buy Milwaukee, Utah or Cincinnati and move them to Loveland, CO so Eagles can move up to AHL. If Utah is the team where will Phoenix put their players? Hershey?? Where is the invisible man..Dave Andrews???? He is probably counting his money in Springfield.

Well, your "ground source" can cross Milwaukee off the list as anyone purchasing the team will be required to keep it there as a condition of sale.

We have not heard anything from the other Mayor, one Timothy Murray. What is he doing to bring a team here besides the junket up at the All Star game in Manchester?

Call him and ask.

I know exactly what Murray, O'Brien, Moore, and Dunn have and are doing. And I am confident that they have and are doing everything possible, and in some case a lot more than any of us would expect. Why don't you get off your ass and do something instead polluting this board?
