BEARS AND AVALANCHE TO PART WAYS AFTER 2004-05 SEASON 03/17/05 04:18 PM - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 17, 2005 CONTACT: John Walton – HERSHEY BEARS – (717) 534-8983
BEARS ANNOUNCE THAT PARTNERSHIP WITH AVALANCHE WILL END FOLLOWING THE 2004-05 SEASON
HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that the club and the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche have mutually agreed to cease their affiliation agreement following the conclusion of the 2004-05 season. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
The Avalanche and BEARS have been linked together for the last nine seasons. Colorado has assigned players to HERSHEY since a partnership was created in time for the 1996-97 season. The affiliation proved to be successful for both clubs, with HERSHEY winning the 1997 Calder Cup Championship in the AHL, and the Avalanche claiming a Stanley Cup Championship in 2001.

Hmmmm interesting...unless they flip flop with another team, the AHL (from what i've read) won't allow a team play as independent? I think that means more to them than us....but hey, wackier things have happened. Keep the faith! |

From what I hear on different boards, The Capitals linking up with hershey seems to be a done deal, but then again nothing is done until it is official |
